Whether you are new to vaping or a seasoned user, you may have experienced a clogged cartridge or disposable before. It can be very frustrating to deal with, especially if you haven’t gotten full use of your product yet. I’m here to tell you today that it can be fixed 95% of the time with a couple of my favorite tricks! First, let’s go over what causes a clogged cartridge or disposable.
So, why does a cartridge or disposable become clogged? This can happen when the unit’s airflows are filled and hardened with thick distillate or oil. Our Delta-8 and Delta-10 distillates are very viscous, or thick, much like other cannabis distillates. This is the nature of these extracts, and unfortunately can cause the clogging of units.
You may be thinking, “Steve, if this is common, why don’t you make your distillates thinner?” That is a very good question! The thinner we make our distillates, the less potent they become. I want you to get as much potency as you can for your money, which is why we do not thin or cut our products. A lot of companies use cutting agents like Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerin, or sometimes MCT Oil. This cuts down on that potency and leads to less strength of the product.
How to Unclog Your Unit
Enough rambling, lets get to the beans of this article so you can be on your way with an unclogged unit!
Tactic 1: Blow Through Mouthpiece
Sometimes all it takes to unclog your unit is to gently blow into the mouthpiece. Be careful not to blow too hard, you do not want to mess any of the internals up with your huff and puff. Do this 3-5 times to see if that helps move what is causing the clog. If you see anything through the mouthpiece that could be causing the clog, try removing it with a toothpick or paperclip. If this tactic doesn’t work, let’s try the next step!
Tactic 2: Heat
Next up we have heat. Heat will be your best friend when it comes to owning a thicker distillate product. If the above step didn’t help clear the pathway, heat will surely do the trick. Grab a hairdryer, hold the unit in an upright position, and heat the oil up for 3-5 minutes until it becomes slightly runny. This will help clear any hardened distillate from the wrong places. After heating for a few minutes, let the mouthpiece cool and then give it a try! This should fix your issue. If you are part of the 5% that is still having issues, contact us here and we will try and help.
How to Prevent in the Future
The above can be quite the process, so here is what we recommend to prevent any clogging in the future. If your vape battery offers variable voltage, we recommend using the lowest voltage when vaping thicker distillates and oils. This will heat the oil up slower and help with any hardened oil on the coil/atomizer (the unit that heats the oil). On top of using the lowest voltage, if your battery has a preheat option, this will be a lifesaver. If you own one of our vape batteries, you are in luck! To use preheat, double tap the button and you will see the lights turn on and switch colors. This goes on for a few seconds and once it is done, you can go ahead and vape away! I recommend doing this at the beginning of every vape sesh. It can help save the life of your cartridge coil and can help prevent any future clogging.
I hope these tactics help fix any clogging issues that your cartridge or disposable is having. If you have any future questions about our products, feel free to shoot us an email here. Happy vaping!
